Teams of golfers grabbed their clubs and began swinging on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at Morongo’s Tukwet Canyon golf course in Beaumont, California. By the end of the day, they’d raised thousands of dollars at the 26th Annual Morongo Charity Golf Tournament.
And our small 501(c)3 nonprofit was one of the biggest tournament winners!
That means, so are you!
Dorothy Ramon Learning Center is grateful beyond words to be gifted with $50,000 from the charity golf tournament.

From Leaders Ernest and June Siva:
“We at Dorothy Ramon Learning Center are most grateful to Morongo Casino for choosing us as one of the charities to support with the Morongo Charity Golf Tournament. This wonderful gift will be of great help as we open for more public events, expand our library and publications.
“ It will definitely help us live our motto, to ‘save and share’ the Native American cultures of Southern California — histories, songs and stories, traditional and contemporary arts. Thank you for this beautiful gathering, so special from beginning to end.”

Not pictured are board members Carolyn Horsman of Morongo, treasurer and a powerhouse volunteer; and Tom Long, secretary, a Cal State University, San Bernardino, history professor and coordinator of the Learning Center’s interns; and board member Pat Murkland, editor, who was taking the photo.
When tournament co-chairs and Morongo Tribal Council members James Siva (at left) and Brian Lugo (at right) were gifting the Center with the $50,000 donation, Brian Lugo pointed out that Dorothy Ramon Learning Center is not a museum.
Instead, the Center saves and shares Native American cultural knowledge now, and for future generations. He especially thanked our Elder, Ernest Siva (Cahuilla-Serrano) for his lifelong dedication to saving and sharing Native American cultures.
Special thanks to the tournament co-chairs James Siva and Brian Lugo, and also tournament and casino manager Debbie Hermann for your kindness and support.
